Man gets jail time in gun incident
A 47-year-old transient suspected of taking a gun that a Lincoln police officer accidentally left under a bench was sentenced Tuesday to 180 days in jail.
Thomas Livings pleaded no contest in April to an amended charge of attempted possession of a firearm by a felon, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Authorities said the officer left his duty belt underneath a bench near the Matt Talbot kitchen the evening of Oct. 7. Police found Livings with the gun and magazines a short time later in an apartment near 23rd and Q streets.
