If you're headed to Manhattan, Kan., for Thursday night's Nebraska-Kansas State football game, the Nebraska Department of Roads suggests you put a little jog in your route.
The department said those taking U.S. 77 to Manhattan will run into a highway project in the Wymore area that has two spots with lane closings, flaggers, pilot vehicles, a 12-foot width limit and slower speeds.

So, the department has a suggestion: Instead of staying on U.S. 77 where it turns east through Blue Springs and south through Wymore, go south on Nebraska 112 to Nebraska 8, then east on Nebraska 8 back to the junction of 8 and 77.

Then, follow U.S. 77 the rest of the way into Manhattan.

As of Monday afternoon, the Kansas Department of Transportation website showed no construction work or detours on U.S. 77. For later updates, call 866-511-5368 from Nebraska, or 511 once you're inside Kansas.

They need to open a red only express lane and put the construction on hold, seems to me that the DOT has a priority problem.

That would be sweet. Thursday is the only day I wouldnt mind being a traffic jam going down to Manhattan.

Watchout Manhattan.... here comes the Red....
