First of all, I have no link to the football team, and in all honesty, I have never even been to Nebraska, although someday I would love to see them play in Lincoln. For some unknown reason, my father was a huge Nebraska fan going back to the days of Jerry Tagge, and Jeff Kinney, and I became a Nebraska fan through him. In Ohio, Nebraska football is thought to be pretty much dead, and really the Huskers have no respect from the Buckeye nation, which is quite a change from when Osborne was leading the team. Regardless, I go every week to a local sports pub that puts the Husker game on for me, and I wear my Husker gear, and lately get heckled by Buckeye fans about the current state of the Huskers. As an outsider, I really feel this team needs a change in leadership, and that BC should be canned, as I beleive from watching the games that he has lost control of the ship, and will not ever regain control. After BC is terminated, I sure hope the powers to be do not go after someone such as Patterson at TCU, as I do not feel he has the overall package to return the Huskers to the top 10. I think the Huskers would be better off going with a young coach whom has a vision and wants to succeed, and I have a few ideas on whom I would like to see them name as head coach. Brian Kelly of Cinc would be my number one choice, period. In my neck of the woods, we get to see alot of the MAC and Conf USA on the television, and I can tell you this guy is as intense as any coach in the country. He took a downright terrible program at Central Michigan, and turn this program into a MAC power that played with passion. He has an exciting offense that strives on control the ground and then taking chances with big strikes downfield through the air, and his defense plays with energy. While I will be the first to admit that Kelly did take over Cinc Bearcats program that had the cupboards stocked, but he has transformed the offense into a dangerous team, while still maintaining the tough defense that D'Antonio put in before he left for MSU. Others that I would like to see given a chance if Kelly was not an option are: Bo Pellini, and while im not sure if he could come back to Nebraska, but I am positive that the team would play with passion if he did choose to come back. Buckeye fans love to spectulate that if Tressel were to ever leave OSU that Bo would be a frontrunner with his Ohio connections. Brent Venables, DC at Okie is another guy that I think would be a wise choice. Jimbo Fisher the OC at FSU would also be a decent coach since he could utilize many of the players that were recruited under BC. Another head coach whom I like and think would be a good fit for the Huskers is Bronco Mendenhall of BYU, as he has a passion to succeed. Well better days can only be ahead for Husker Nation, as long as changes are made.
