Ohio State, Arkansas Offenses

All-Conference
As I am watching these two teams play, I can't helped but wonder how our beloved huskers would perform with these offenses in place. We don't have a Mallet or a Pryor, but I don't see too many zone reads, shifting and wildcat. I have seen a fullback, imagine that, a fullback...and blocking of all things.

At the end of the day, you can be as fancy as you want. You still have to stick to the fundamentals. Vanilla offenses work. Mix in some play action and you have consistency. That's why the option was so good. You lined up and hit the man in front of you.

Just frustrated watching simple offenses work consistently.

If we went with a friggin wing-T, I'd be happy.

Go Big Red!

Arkansas does run the wildcat some.. Inventors of the WildHog.. And yea I would love to see a nice blocking fullback infront of burkhead or and of the Rb's coming in next year..

Ah yes. The good old I-formation. I would like us to go back to this set up more than anything. I don't really care about the option. I just want to see some I-formation down hill running and some play action off of that. Just like Campbells soup....MMMMMM good!

Here's one thing I noticed, Ohio State, didn't get their first penalty util about 5(?) minutes left in the THIRD QUARTER. We are lucky to not have a penalty in the first drive. We need that kind of discipline. (as we have all stated before)

ohio state runs a very basic offense. with that being said they have only about 6 plays. what makes them so good is their huge o-line.

oh how I love simple offenses that do what theyre suppose to. enough trying to confuse the opponent when all it does is confuse ourselves.

If I was to mold the offense like another team it would be Stanford. They know how to effectively use their FBs and TEs along with a strong run game. Anyone watch them route VaTech ? Thats what I'm talking about.

One thing about Tressel's teams is their turnover margin. The D is always forcing turnovers and the offense rarely gives them up. THey have very good with ball security.

Agreed. The defensive mindset is when we're not pressuring the QB, we will look like we are and you will forget to account for the DL that dropped back into coverage.

Winning the turnover battle usually gets you the W. It's as simple as that.
