Ohio State officially interviewed Pelini for job

FWIW I heard Gene Smith on the radio this morning. He said he had a list of candidates that were assembled. He says he did not contact any other nor would he release the list. Urban Meyer was target #1 and if he said he was not interested then they would move down the list.

Nah, he never played for Osborne.
One, that doesn' even make sense.

Two, I live near gainsville. You extremely naive, or just plain stupid, if you think Urban is clean coach. He didn't lead the country in arrests per roster by accident. If even 10% of the stories I've heard are true, he's pure scum. It's amazing how much people are willing to talk now that he's not there.

FWIW, Muck's tagline on BuckeyePlanet is "Superior knowledge, at your service." He's really, really, really smart.

I didn't read the whole thread, but OSU's AD Gene Smith was on XmRadio's College sports today channel this AM with Mark Packer and Eddie George (OSU alum). He said UM was the only person that OSU talked with. He had a short list of names, and talked to people about the names on the list, but never talked to anyone else except Meyer. He said out of "respect" for the other folks on his list, that he would not name names.

So, from the "horses mouth" it doesn't look like they talked to Bo...

Meh. THEY didn't talk to Bo, or any other coach, maybe, but people who have the ability to talk knowledgeably about the subject likely talked to a number of people who represent certain coaches. There are layers of removal to these conversations, but when they say Meyer was the ONLY guy they talked to, that's not entirely factual. It would be colossally stupid for a program like Ohio State not to have several irons in the fire during a coaching search. Meyer was their #1 guy from day one, and they got him, but that in no way means he was the ONLY guy in the mix.

Meyer was the ONLY guy they DIRECTLY talked to,
Maybe I should have said it like that.....

Gene Smith says that he, and every good AD worth their salt, has a up to date short list for every sport at an University, because you never know when somebody will be gone. ie: Oki State Women's B-Ball (unfortunate and sad situation, but it proves the point)...

I understand the thought of talking to "other people" instead of directly to the coach to maintain plausible deniablilty, but isn't Bo his own agent?

If I'm correct, I'm curious who some think are the "other people" that surround Bo.
