Okay...every new season I ask...what are your plans for the first game?

We are sort of in limbo right now. The plan was to head down to Lincoln but that has hit a snag because one buddy has to go to a wedding and the driving situation has changed.

So this might end up as a sports bar in Omaha type of game. One thing I am not a huge fan of is Tanners and their crazy 11 dollar pitcher prices. But that is where we might end up.

What about you guys?

Who is going to the game? Who is heading to Lincoln just for the atmosphere? Who is hitting up a watch party? Who is enjoying it at home?

Mom's heading to the Chicago for the weekend. Show her around the Loop, get to Kirkwood early, drink a lot, eat a lot, hope I see that girl with the cute sweater I crushed on last season, get complimented on my sweater, watch the game, party.

$11 pitchers? Sometimes it's hard to find individual beers cheaper than that around here.

Last night of vacation and we'll be in Lisbon, Portugal. The game will be on at 1 a.m. local time. I'll be at the hotel watching on my laptop via BigTen2Go International ($14.95 for 24 hours pass). Don't care about staying up all night to watch the game as it will be the first step in re-adjusting to Central U.S. time.

No scheduling conflicts and it's a night game. WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!

I would like to BBQ some beef short ribs. Probably going to be the first weekend back from college for my daughters.

Should be fun.

Shoot, I know. I grew up there!

Kirkwoods is pretty fun for Husker stuff.

Get up at 6:00, put the brisket on, go for a run. Watch GT vs BC at 7:30 AM. Watch Gameday. Take the 6 year old to baseball practice at noon, make sure we're done exactly at 1:15, come home. Eat a light lunch, drink beer, watch the afternoon games. Pull the brisket off, watch the 'Skers with the family.

Sold my tickets so my son could play with his cousins at my parents house for they are hosting a get together at their place with food, beer and a bonfire.

It's a blast. When I was down in Atlanta the only Husker site options were one where I was the only white person in sight (which admittedly was a lot of fun, but only in doses) or one in the suburbs where everyone was my senior by at least ~15 years. Kirkwood is great, full of young people, and huge. It's more fun than a lot of places I'd watch back in Nebraska.

Family reunion in Estes Park. Cousin is taking us to the husker bar to watch it.

Ever been to Rockwood on Clark just south of Wrigley Field? I've been to Kirkwood a lot, but now I live a stones throw from Rockwood and am wondering what the atmosphere there is like for Nebraska games...

I haven't. I know there are other places, but Kirkwood was the first I tried, and enjoyed it so much I just kept going back hoping to meet and hang out with the same people because how the hell do people make friends as adults in strange cities these days? I'm planning on going to 1-2 other places this year to see what I'm missing out on, as well as going to the NW and maybe Indiana games.
