DURANT, Oklahoma -- After Casey Anthony received the not guilty verdict in her daughter Caylee's death, an Oklahoma woman is doing her part to create a new law in Caylee's name.

Michelle Crowder of Durant started a Change.org petition on Tuesday and it's already gone viral with more than 37,000 supporters in all 50 states joining in less than 24 hours.

The petition is asking Congress to create "Caylee's Law." The law would make it a federal offense for a parent or guardian to fail to report a child's disappearance to law enforcement.

And slightly off topic but "Durant" is not pronounced "Dir-ant"...in Oklahoma it's "Doo-rant"

I admit I rolled my eyes a bit when I saw this thread title, but I have to say that this sounds like a really good idea.

I don't think it should be called "Caylee's Law," though. I believe the mom killed her, but in the absence of a conviction, it's too presumptive to name the law after someone else's daughter. It also presumes guilt which, while I think most everyone thinks the mom is guilty, is not fair.

Yeah I was a little hesitant to actually read the article until I read what the idea was about. And I have to admit, I tend to agree with the idea.
