Oregon releases draft of NCAA review

EUGENE, Ore. -- The NCAA is alleging Oregon violated the organization's regulations in the way it used recruiting services over the past four years.

The accusations were contained in two draft documents, labeled "Proposed Findings of Violations," obtained Friday in a public records request by several media outlets. While the documents use language that indicates the NCAA and the university agree to certain points, an athletic department spokesman says Oregon does not acknowledge any of the violations.

The NCAA has been looking into Oregon's recruiting practices since questions arose over a 2010 payment of $25,000 to Willie Lyles and his Houston-based recruiting service. Lyles had a relationship with a player from Texas who committed to Oregon.

It's duck season. Pull the trigger ncaa.

Oregon fans looking for good news should note that a "failure to monitor" charge, while it can carry burdensome sanctions, is not the dreaded "lack of institutional control."

The Pac-12 blogger saying that the Ducks will get bent over, but the ncaa is using lube. So it won't be *that* painful.

These schools aren't going to be afraid til the punishment is a lot worse than a slap on the hand. Bring back the death penalty. Miami should've gotten it and then maybe these schools would wise up.

I'll be very suprised if it's anything substantial. Like many, I feel the NCAA is too soft to levy any heavy penalties.

I dont think Shapiro is done with Miami. Read somewhere that he still had more dirt.

I don't think the NCAA is done even without this additional dirt you mentioned. There hasn't been a ruling yet.

The NCAA needs to make an example out of a school.
I agree they need to because things are becoming too lawless. I do question sometimes how much is at stake for those on the NCAA committee members, like incentives from boosters to look the other way. This is clearly speculation from my end, but something has to give.

+1 Treand. Money goes a long way and the Boosters have plenty of it. Who really knows what is going on in the trenches.
