Oregon loss and MSU swagger

So, that loss by Oregon last night -- I would think it makes at least a few people on Michigan State's team feel just a bit deflated. They've been hanging their hat on how they were ahead of Oregon like that matters. Well, now being ahead of Oregon suddenly doesn't mean much. I played college sports, but not football -- what do you who played football think of this? Do the players get distracted by that? Do the coaches?

I think the other thing that loss did was make it imperative for Nebraska to win tonight to stay ranked. The "close game" against Oregon now means less and I think even with a hypothetical win over Nebraska, MSU drops in the polls.

honestly, i doubt they care too much. maybe their fans are disappointed. but nothing has changed for them. just win the next one. and honestly, if they won out, i would guess they would be in the playoffs.

 
I do think it may play into things....just a bit.......very slight disappointment for the Spartans and a slight "bump" for the Huskers....just from a mental standpoint. Glad it happened when it did. will take any and every edge we can get.

 
I think it's gotta have some type of mental/psychological effect on them. I'm sure they're saying to themselves, "Damn, Oregon's not even all that good. Maybe we're not as good as we thought." Hopefully it bodes well for the Huskers, although I don't think we've had a true test yet, and tonight we'll see where we truly stand on the totem pole.

 
Honestly, I doubt they care too much. Maybe their fans are disappointed. But nothing has changed for them. Just win the next one. And honestly, if they won out, I would guess they would be in the playoffs.

that was my exact thought. i mean, to the word.

 
That was creepy...

Oh, and that won't even enter into their thinking about tonight. Athletes don't think like that. Most of them probably feel they are better than Oregon anyway and that their mistakes cost them that game.

 
The players probably care about it as much as our players care about Purdue beating Illinois.
