Sipple's running a story talking about Dr. Tom's fondness Florida's spread option look. And then there's Oregon's take on the option...

It's a real thing of beauty when properly executed. It's so much fun to watch that I actually find myself pulling for Florida nowadays. I never thought I'd say that about any team from that curse-ed state...

Forgive me for starting to daydream about next year already, but what kind of offense would Turner Gill or Pelini run anyway?

If you want to know what Turner would run, watch a Buffalo Bulls game sometime. They are on TV every now and then. As for Pelini, I don't know. People on here think his "D" would be so good he would probably punt on 1st down.

Haha. Yah, it does sound something like that on the Pelini bandwagon. Call me crazy, but all the best teams in the college game I can think of were offensive juggernauts first...

I've never seen Buffalo play but I'll be looking now. I'll go hit Youtube maybe.

The option as a premier offense is dead.

But as a supplement, the option can be very effective.

Thing is, finding a QB who is fast on his feet, and accurate through the air, is a rare find.

Like florida with Tebow... they hit a gold mine with that kid. I never watched Florida games, but now when i catch one, i have to watch.

Well, the option always seemed like a complement to whatever else was going on in the offense anyway. These newer offenses are throwing it in with a spread look and an air attack instead of power running. Do they really run it much fewer times per game than we did back in the 90's?

Hell, I'll take anything that scores points and wins ballgames, but it still makes me warm and fuzzy to see it done well.
