It must be said Nebraska stopped the run pretty damn well today. Iowa tried to run it, too (except for that 3rd quarter stretch.)

My question is why did this occur today? We had our starting All American candidate DE out along with a Cooper a captain out with injury.

Probably because Iowa is a 500 type team

Iowa's running game is ranked 70th in the country. Maybe that's why...

We went more man coverage with the DB's. Played a lot of 1 gap and pretty much ditched the 2 gap allowing the DT's to crash and head up field instead of dancing with the OL and trying to control 2 gaps i.e. we attacked instead of read and react.

I also think Cockrell played at a much better level than Coop....

RG4 isn't good against the run. Iowa isn't a great running team. Probably a lot of those coming together.

I think are Defensive Tackles were allowed to attack and not react. Collins has some good moves to get by an offensive lineman in the blink of an eye.

I think Gangwash plays the run better than Gregory.

Gerry and Zaire played fearlessly, and by that I mean they trusted their instincts and didn't sit there to ponder what to do or not do or if they were making a mistake.

You guys act like Nebraska has one of the best run defenses and then down grade Iowa's running game.

Do any of you remember the Wisconsin game or how about the Minnesota game where we allowed Minnesota's QB to run 100+ yards on us.

So I would say stopping Iowa's running game today was a positive however you guys want to spin it
