McKewon lays out his guess after Spring Ball.

Not a lot that's surprising - mostly what we've heard from practice reports.

A couple things I did notice:

- Nether David Sutton nor Max Pirman - both fourth-year juniors - made his four-deep at TE. I would guess they are two good candidates to not return for their fifth year and open up a couple scholarship spots.

- Other than those two, every other sophomore or older is at least #3 at his position. Not that no one else will leave early but I struggle to find very many others that are getting left out.

- Interesting that he lists Collins as the #2 Rush DE. I know we are thin there and he worked there a decent amount in spring ball but hopefully either Keels or Natter comes on enough to give Gregory and McMullen a break.

Pirman did practice at LB since he has been here, IIRC. Sutton does surprise me though.

Collins, I believe will be that hybrid player. Keels could very well shine during Fall camp, and Collins could be that solid DT we know he can be. Either way, as long as he is on the line, as a starter, I am happy. The guy is a complete stud.

Fyfe isn't quite as good throwing down the field as Stanton or Armstrong
This would be reason enough to hope Armstrong and Stanton hold the starter and back-up spots in the fall. If you take away the deep ball threat (not that it needs to be used often, just respected), we would see teams bringing a safety into the box and making the running game harder.

I like the talent on this list. Deep at some key spots, but also not so deep at others. Offensive line still a concern a bit for me. Reason being we've had a history of injuries every season it seems up front, and if we lose any depth there we could be screwed big.

Defensive line I think we are stacked. The one spot I think might change by the time fall rolls around is that base end spot. McMullen is tough, and physically he's all there, but man oh man Gangwish is gonna give him hell for that starting spot. If not overtake it, I think they are co-starters, equal reps.

The FG kicker spot concerns me as well. I hope Brown can hit em. This spot is a game changer for everyone, but Nebraska especially. We need clutch kickers and have demonstrated that in the past. I also would like to see more consistency and placement ability from the punting game.

Lastly, I know WR is a bit of an unknown, but I can't say I'm concerned one bit. I've got high expectations for Burtch, and Turner. Westerkamp hopefully lives up to the hype he had last year. I can't say I was all that impressed with his hands that were talked about so much. Maybe focusing more on WR, and less on PR will help his game.

I agree that Gangwish is good and the 3rd best DE right now....but there is/has been no indication that him and McMullen are on the same level.

I have personally really liked Brandon Reilly at the WR spot. He seems to be making a lot of noise, and we saw flashes of why in the Spring Game. If he is as sure handed as Bell states, maybe we see him at PR more? It would be interesting.

Nah, just call it my bold prediction for the fall.

I knew I forgot to mention somebody.

Ah gotcha, my bad. There is definitely a spot for the taking there.

Kind of what I suspected after watching the spring game. Most of his completions were quick outs and WR screens.

Some new faces starting on O-line. I sure hope these guys come together as a unit. Could be a loong season if they don't

This is why I am holding out too much hope for this year. We have a lot riding on them.
But it could be the kind of situation where the new faces represent an upgrade as opposed to a bunch of newbies trying to work things out. Really think that Ameer will gain about 2/3 of his yardage running to the left side (strong side!) this season.

I really like the notion of Collins at DE. Especially in run situations, I dont think the taller, lankier tackles can handle his lower center of gravity.

I do, and I don't. I do for the reasons you mention, I don't because it wouldn't even be necessary if we weren't paper thin at DE.
