Pee Wee Trick Play

Brought this up on another board. I hate seeing this in little league. It's basically a coach tricking kids that are 1/3 or 1/4 their age for the sake of a cheap score. Kids this age need to be taught fundamentals, not this loophole in the rule way of scoring a TD. Also, what happens if the safety sniffs it out and comes up and nails the QB while he's walking forward with no defense???

These plays are always awesome. It seems someone at some high-school level or below runs it once a year, or some slightly different one. We ran one in 8th grade saying "hey there's something wrong with the ball" and as the QB walked towards the side line with the ball, repeating "there is something wrong" once he was clear he took off for a TD. Our coach got a lot of flack from the parents for that. They didn't think it was the best of sportsmanship. On a side note we still lost...

killer cacti- I could not agree more. Trick plays are not for middle school. On a side note.....this type of "wrong ball" play has been around for a while.

Normally I would agree that trick plays are not for middle school - but this is the state championship game in Texas and was done by the team that was behind to tie the game late in the game. If you are playing in the state championship game in Texas where football is a religion - I don't think it really matters what age you are talking about, they should know the rules and to attack as soon as the ball moves.

That is awesome. You can be sure that every single kid playing that day will be on the lookout for trick plays and more aware of the rules because of that one play.

I think theyre great. Both teams learned a lot there, and the team that ran it did what we all drew up in the sand at one point, dreaming of the annexation of puerto rico.

The other team should have known something was up when he went straight up the field with the ball, instead of the sideline to his coach. Oh were using the wrong ball, so im going to walk right up the field. Come on, use your brain defense.
