Amazing the differences between Pelini and Callahan!

From journalstar.com blog:

When it comes to option football, Bo Pelini figures no one knows it better than Tom Osborne. So why not have him lend his two cents here and there?

“Coach Osborne comes out (to practice) and watches a lot,” Pelini said at Tuesday's press conference.

“He’s a genius when it comes to offensive football, blocking... You’d be crazy not to listen.

"Some of the things we do are a direct reflection of him," Pelini said.

music to my ears. :clap

It feels like old Nebraska Football again after firing Callahan, getting Dr. Tom back and then the beginning of the Pelini era. The more I think about it the more I'm glad Cally is gone and the more I miss the option offense that Tom Osborne ran. It was truly a fun offense to watch.

Since I have only gotten to listen to the Big Red on the radio, would you say it is a Power offense? Sounds like some of you say it is, but from the radio, it sounds like last years with a little more balance.

Your assessment is correct. What most are talking about is the hope that the offense will eventually return to a power running game. That's been one of Pelini's stated goals, and the quote about getting input from Dr. Tom gives Husker fans hope for a return to an offense that is based on a power running game - not necessarily the option, particularly since that's not exactly the offense Dr. Tom ran; his was a power I with option elements and option plays.
