Penn State Coaching Staff Running HS Camp At Georgia State

Apparently this is legit and is actually a pretty good idea:

If Urban Meyer provided a jolt to the somewhat-sleepy culture of Big Ten recruiting, Penn State coach James Franklin just injected a peach-flavored Red Bull.

Franklin wants the Nittany Lions to recruit in SEC territory, so he’s sending his entire staff to Atlanta — to work a fellow FBS program’s camp as guest coaches. Georgia State is hosting the camp, but make no mistake: Penn State intends to profit from it.

“The way the rules are set up, you’re not allowed to have any camp outside of your state, unless you’re on the border and within a 50-mile radius — and a lot of people recruit in Atlanta,” Georgia State coach Trent Miles told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The joint GSU/PSU camp is June 10. “But you can legally work somebody else’s camp. So it’s beneficial to both parties where Penn State can come down here, work our camp, and get to see the kids that they’re recruiting. And it benefits us by the amount of kids that are coming.”

Nebraska coached did all sorts of things with High school coaches in ways of clinics and such down in Florida for what, 3 years in a row now?

We're trying different things as well and this is a pretty neat idea.

Are you referring to what we do during bowl game prep? I like that too but this is different. Getting high school kids to come to camp to get to know the coaches and let the coaches see them in action is a huge bonus.

I know this.

For some reason I mustve deleted the part where I said I knew it was different.

And what our coaches were doing was making in-roads and connections with high school programs down there and such. I just wanted to state that our guys arent just sitting back waiting for someone else to come up with the next big thing, cuz we're doing things too.

Yeah, I figured you did. I was just wondering if there was something else I was missing.

Maybe this has been going on and we're just hearing about it more but.....

Lake Forest College football camp featuring Iowa football coaches June 14th in Lake Forest, Illinois. Good camp here for Chicagoland kids

You know what MAV? I honestly thought this the other day. I was thinking that yeah, maybe something like has been going on for a while, but now that it's a former SEC coach who's coming in to revolutionize the Big10, it gets national press.

Would like to see charlton warren set up one in atlanta also. Beck graduated from UCF so maybe he can find a small university near Orlando, fl to set up a camp

Not to be outdone, Saban schedules a Tuscaloosa Prospects Camp where Louisiana HS talent can practice against the Tide varsity players. During the 4th qtr down 72-0, the players learn they have just played their first college game as the sec is counting it as a buy game. Saban then tells the best uninjured invitees "well, since your eligibility clock has started ticking. . ."
