Don't believe that quote from Emmert for a second. This has everything to do with reining in the bowls. There's a boatload of back-door money floating around these bowl games. Maybe this is all window dressing, but the NCAA seems interested in making the bowls sweat a little. Hopefully a lot.The NCAA is going to take a hard look at its role in college football's increasingly messy bowl system.
NCAA President Mark Emmert wants a review of all football bowl games.
A task force formed by President Mark Emmert will examine the process and criteria for approving games, and by October could recommend tightening areas ranging from financial supervision to the suitability of sponsors. Formation of the panel was announced Thursday.

"This has nothing to do with postseason tournaments," Emmert said. "This is only about making sure the NCAA's role in licensing bowls is well done and consistent with the values we want to promote."

The NCAA's review will be headed by Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman and a yet-to-be-named co-chair who Emmert said would come from outside higher education and athletics circles. The task force will report back to Emmert and the NCAA's Division I board of directors in October.
At least we have a guy on our team heading the show. Perlman, for all the criticism he gets, is a huge boon for UNL.
