>>To answer the original question, Pierson-El, considering some of the minor caveats above, has potentially been worth nearly 10 additional yards in terms of average starting field position off of punts. Based on the findings from FBSDriveStats, every additional yard in average starting field position is worth 0.06 points per drive. So if you want to convert Pierson-Els contribution to points, each Nebraska drive off of a punt has been expected to be worth 0.6 more points than last year. Thats a significant jump.

I have a hard time putting all responsibility for the vast improvements in our punt return game solely on Pierson-El. There has obviously been a complete overhaul schematics and attitude/effort of the punt return team. Even Pierson-El would not have made a different last year with the garbage play we saw on punt returns.

I thought I had heard from Bo at one of his press conferences that he had taken over punt returns and was coaching it this year.

This is more like "What the hell happened in 2013???"

Thank goodness for Bo taking over.

Bo also said it was his call on being conservative last year. We ended up too conservative and it hurt us. So it was his fault we were terrible last year and (largely) his credit that we are pretty good this year.

He did, he said he did a lot of research because he felt like he was crippling us with always trying to prevent a fake.

A big part of our improvement is that we have someone back there who can actually catch the ball. Something we've had a tough time doing the past two or three years.

That, and once DPE makes the catch, WATCH OUT! The guy has the potential to house it anytime he takes off running.

We are going to be spoiled while Pierson-El is here, and when he leaves and we come crashing back down to reality it's going to be a huge disappointment.

Not sure.

Yes, Pierson-El is good. However, Bo's punt return strategy has changed which is a huge factor. That won't change back if Pierson-El continues to have success.

If Bo's teams have found a way to give Nate Swift and Niles Paul success as punt returners, I think we will be just fine.

Knapp - enjoy it for the next few years, we have plenty of time to get down about it later. Who knows, maybe wt his success, we might be able to groom some replacement guys who play with the same wreckless abandon.
