I am a grad student in Omaha and I will be bringing my shotgun back after thanksgiving and I'd love to do some pheasant hunting! Any good public hunting areas that I can get a roody. I'm not a road hunter and would like to find some places to walk. Also have any suggestions on public deer hunting land, as far as Neb. Game and Parks Comm. land to hunt with a bow? I haven't done much research on the area around but now I have more time from school to do things like this I have missed for 6 years....

I just went back to Lincoln this fall and drove my wife around the surrounding area. I've never seen so many no hunting signs. Course I grew up in Lincoln/Waverly and knew many farmers and had permission to hunt. That said, back in the day if you saw some promising land to hunt go up to the farm house (without shotgun in hand) and ask for permission to hunt. May be lucky might not but asking is much better than trespassing. Lots of great land between Ashland and Waverly just get permission. My .02
