Please Bogazm somewhere else

First I appreciate this board, it has some good folks involved and is organized. What Im going to say is nothing against this place, Im just posting here b/c it seems to be the most popular husker site I can post on without paying for my own opinions---> which is a big WTH but another topic.

Look, the Bo-gazm ticker-tape parade has to friggin stop. This is really getting ridiculous. I have nothing against the guy, and he may be a solid head coach SOMEday, but the basis for most of your positions on why you want to go N-vitro with Bo is frankly giving me face spasms.

I'll entertain any thoughtful arguments as to why he is legit, and I expect to get some here from folks like you, but my biggest contention is with the people running around Bo'ing in their pants, with no clue as to why.

So just why all the bo-mania?

B/c he inspired a team to an ALAMO bowl win vs the ever-powerful Michigan St?? History will show most all teams rally around the interim coach, so a win in that game was not notable.

B/c he is a "players coach" and heck, all his guys really love him!!!

Hate to break it, but most assistants have good relations with their players. Its easy to do. They dont have to be diplomatic, and make executive divisive decisions.

B/c he has done really swell with OU, LSU and would probably do even sweller with the next team he skipped off to after he's denied the LSU head job??

Doesnt his pattern of bailing from team to team only for lateral positions concern you? Do you TRULY think he would have any more loyalty to NU than anyone else? If so, please please remove your Big Red head-gear and go back to your tupper-ware fort.

Why hasnt he been offered a head-coach job by now if he's so Bo-tastic?

Are you guys forgetting the multiple meltdowns our defense had on BO's watch?? See K-state in '03, the prelude to the staff gettiing Soliched - and only marginally less atrocious than another BLOwout that occured last wknd. So why is Cosgrove not Bo-tastic? or maybe he is..

Is it just b/c Bo rhymes with Bo?

Sure he's a firey guy and creates intensity, but thats the MANTRA of a DC -- if he becomes a head-coach, then what is his schtick? Do you not think there will be a learning-curve?

Hey I'd love for any coach we hire to come in here and be instantly successful -- but my biggest concern is that most of you supporting Bo, are the same ones that were at Solich's throat, and then Callahan's after day 1. So what happens when Bo stumbles, is it back to the Husker Carnival-coaching-go-round?

Just look at it critically is all Im saying.

This is why there will BE NO HEAD COACHING CHANGES until the end of the year. this needs time. this needs to be done correctly. and you can take my words to invest in a CD or mutual fund.. or whatever the hell that means. just think about it, this is a very delicate situation. Nebraska can NOT f-this-up again. Lincoln is seriously bordering on carnie-status. All thats missing is council bluffs & an elephant woman on a uni-cycle.

LB coach to DC to co-DC to DC. I'm sure he wouldn't have had to take a step backward if NU hadn't canned him for no good reason.

OK, I'll bite.

I'm not one of those saying that Pelini HAS to be the next HC. But I do think he's one of the best options available.

I could be completely wrong - but to me the main thing Nebraska lacks is intesity. I think its pretty obvious that Coz hasn't gotten his players to play hard for him - similar to what happened to Bohl. Pelini came in and made a defense instantly better, not with superior schemes or better personnel, but with motivation. I don't think its too much of a stretch to think he could do that for an entire team.

As for the K-State blowout, I remember reading something (sorry there's no link - it was 4 years ago) about Pelini not believing the offense could get the job done so mid-way through the 3rd quarter he started calling an extremely aggressive defense trying to force some turnovers. The gamble didn't work out and the rest is history. And honestly, what team (aside from the '95 Huskers) doesn't have at least one defensive melt-down in a season.

Pretty much every "expert" has him on their short list of soon-to-be Head Coaches. His move from NU to OU was a byproduct of the raw-deal he received in Lincoln. His move from OU to LSU was a move from Co-DC to DC. So I guess you could say that he's climbed back up the ladder after he left NU.

I don't think a certain polish or professional demeanor should be that high of a priority for a football coach. I'm more interested in keeping a clean program and winning football games. Basically, he came here once before and restored pride to the team and many people around here are thinking he's capable of doing it again.

Welcome to the board. As well as all the newcomers lately. I totally agree with your views, reasons and rationalization as well.

Wasn't that the year that they had Roberson and that wicked RB? I think they started the season at #4, were plagued with injuries, and got everyone back in time to kick our asses and OU's asses. K-State could have been in the NC that year had they had all of their players in good working condition.

There's the link to their schedule. You can see exactly when their key players were out. They rolled up OU and hung with THE Ohio State. Solich was as good as Stoops that year :)

Interesting comments, thanks. Heres my main position why bo will NEVER be our HC.

Bottom line ----------> He is a LIABILITY.

Do you seriously think our program could afford to go thru another coaching change if Bo imploded? And Im sorry, Bo has proven that he has implosion abilities within. What he hasnt proven is that he is capable of leading NOT ONLY players, but other coaches. He just doesnt inspire confidence in me that he can mange other egos very well, let alone his own.

Also, it sounds as if TO will want to implement a spread-option, similar to what Urban Meyer has done. What in Bos credentials would make ANYone confident that he could be the person to do this??

Sorry guys, I like Bo as a DC or a HC of a... Bowling Green, not THE NU.

and you can take that to the post office. :hmmph

:yeah

Holy friggin crap, a voice of reason against Bogasmic behavior!

I swear - for every new thread that starts with Pelini I'm going to bump this sh!t.

My views are totally aligned with Bogazm-Headspazm.

:yeah

KState played Ohio State in a BCS game and probably would have won if some bimbo wouldn't have filed a false report about being sexually assaulted by Roberson. I guess people would rather see us get blown out by unranked teams like Okie State at home during Homecoming than see us get blown out by a BCS bowlbound team!

Bo Pelini will be a HC next year. Will it be at NU? I don't know. Will it be at A&M? I don't know. However, he will be a HC next year somewhere.

For everyone claiming he has no experience as HC, I guess I'll ask the obvious question: why would we wnat to hire someone who does? If they're a good HC where they are at, why would they be willing to come here? If it's money, do any of you really think somewhere someday out there somebody else will be willing to pay them more? Look at Saban. He's leap frogging from HC gig to HC gig chasing money. Is this what we want? No matter who we hire, we're more than likely going to go after an up and coming coordinator out there. Pelini has one of the best D's in the land, so I guess that would definitely have to put him on the list!

I forgot about the SA chargers against Roberson! What ever came of that? I was really cheering for them, actually, I always want the Big 12 to look good in the post season. I thought OU was going to trounce them so i was at a photo gig that night. I kept checking the score... unbelievable.

I agree with the rest of your post, too. I am not going to go nuts if WE pass him up because I'm thinking that TO and the rest of the search committee (I hope there is one) will have good reasons for whomever they choose. Pud's too-late panicked search was a pathetic embarrassment. I had hopes for BC at the beginning, but once he intentionally let the TT game turn into a blow out to... I don't know... prove a point... I flipped on him quickly.
