16. Nebraska (9-4)
Why No. 16? Because the balance between a grind-it-out offense and an aggressive defense might be the best of coach Bo Pelini's tenure. If running back Ameer Abdullah returns, the offense will have its leader and tone-setter. The defense is still young but clearly going places, judging by the way it turned a corner midway through 2013. There are some very strong players on the roster – like Abdullah, receiver Kenny Bell and defensive end Randy Gregory – and several yet-known pieces ready for an increase in playing time, particularly on both lines. The schedule isn't particularly daunting, meaning this could end up being Pelini's best team on the field and in the standings.

Yea Schlabach (espn) lost all credibility when he put Florida in the top 25. While they may be better next year and get into the top 25, they certainly aren't deserving of starting in it.

The fact that Schlabach put Georgia at #11, Florida at #25, and doesn't even rank Nebraska pretty much says it all.

There is no inherent reason to rank Nebraska. So, no big deal on that end. But having Georgia at 11 and Florida at 25 is absurd.

every year we get ranked on speculation of improvement......enough of that preseason bullcrap......let this team earn their ranking.

I really have no problem with us not being ranked, but if you include a team we JUST BEAT and a team that didn't even make a bowl game, then I call bullsh#t

And it's not like we lose a bunch of players anyway.. You could argue we'll be an even better team in 2014
