Possible Explanation for Bad Display last Saturday

I am not sure if anyone else caught this on BRW on Tuesday, but they talked about a reason for the lackluster performance: start time. Nebraska normally practices in the afternoon, not accustomed to playing early in the day. San Jose St, practices most days at 8 AM before classes. They are used to early start times. There is no excuse for some of the bad play, but this might explain why the Huskers looked sloppy and San Jose St played fairly well early. Interesting.

It's believable, but like you said no excuse. Also like it shouldn't be for the fans, however it gets used a lot for why the fans are quite and boring during the early games.

My neighbor uses that excuse all the time...at least that's what his wife says when she sneaks over.

A good player always "rises" to the occassion no matter what time it is.... :woo

:yeah early/late who cares, SJSU came ready and we were not ready for the them, lets just send NMSU home battered and bruised! :nanalama

That's a valid point. I dont recall many 11am starts before 2000. It seemed kickoff was usually 130.

That was a pretty crappy excuse, heard it all day on the radio broadcast. Guess nobody told SJS that it was only 9:30 am in CA. Yeah, they practice in the morning out there...but in my mind, everyone knows what time the game is, it is up to the players and coaches to be ready to play, no matter what time it is.

I didn't hear anyone at the Olympics complaining about having to compete in the middle of the night our time....hmmm.....

This is a crap excuse....just admit that SJS came in prepared and almost stole a victory. Husker Trucker has a very good point....the Olympians were competing on opposite schedules that they trained on for years and they did not give that excuse.

No matter the time, you need to be able to get up to play the game!!!!!

Does anyone actually read an entire post? I'll repost the thesis, because 5 sentences is apparently too long.

What ever the reason, I thought SJS looked faster, bigger and hit a lot harded than WMU. Was led to believe that WM as the better team of the first three games on the schedual. Don't think so

GBR!!!

I was impressed with the Ihenacho boys - one on the DL and one was DB. SJSU played with more intensity than WMU.

I do agree that the early start time may have slightly affected our performance.

Guess it's too much to ask people to understand the difference between offering an explanation and making an excuse.

Maybe they didn't get their coffee and donuts that a.m. either...

LAAAME!!! :WTH

They had an off game, it happens at least once to each team in the country every season. The key is finding ways to win when it does happen.

Bingo we have a winner thanks for playing everyone and don't forget to tip your waitress.
:yeah Look at Ohio St last week and don't try to tell me they sucked because 'Beanie' wasn't playing. They did not look good all the way around and they're supposed to be a national title contender. We looked flat for 3 quarters but still won the game. Done. All that matters is that big W on the schedule.
