What are we looking for? Youth, experience, NU ties, offensive genius, defensive guru, great recruiter, Mack Brown, PeteCarroll, Bob Stoops, Jim Tressell, Urban Meyer, Steve Spurier? What type are we looking for? Tedford, Bellotti, Venables, Gill, Kelly, Muschamp, Pelini, Strong, Schiano, Leavitt, Shannon, Butch Davis, Rich Brooks, Jason Garrett, Leach?

What about Mike Gundy at OSU ?

He obviously has passion for his kids and knows how to beat OU :)

Get REAL! We want to win, not get laughed at! He beat which OU team? Les Miles beat OU a few times, can't recall Gundy beating Bob Stoops?

Gundy beat the Huskers twice my friend.. they won their bowl game..

give gundy the right players...

look what he has achieved with the talent he has

Other than Pelini... there is no one proven and with youth..

Heck at least Gundy has been a head coach...

Osborne and Gundy.. could accomplish GREAT THINGS!!

Why would he leave his alma mater for the hot seat at NU? He has great talent, they just don't play defense! T Boone Pickens is bankrolling him, he's not going anywhere! He won't win big because they don't play DEFENSE!

Patterson is another Fran, he was his DC. Patterson plays defense like Va Tech, but their offense needs some updating to be descent at best. Patterson would jump to come. I think Pelini is going to the Aggies.

What about Watson, he is a very charismic (sp) guy and hasn't really gotten a shot yet since it is Callahan's offense. He is on my coaches to save for an easier transition along with Rudolph, Wyatt, along with a possible Busch

He's had pretty good talent, NFL caliber WR's at least. i still say, WTH ARE YOU THINKING!

You can probably bet that this entire staff will be jettisoned.

New to the forum...

What about Chris Peterson, the head coach for Boise State. Great two year run as HC for a WAC school including getting BSU into a BCS bowl (where all he did was coach his team to a win over OU and there great D and big game coach Bob Stoopes in one of the greatest football games in college football history). Also was the OC during the period that got BSU on the football map. Would love to see what he could do at a a big time school with big time talent....Very Urban Meyer-like too....Young & innovative.

Plus with TO as his AD...great voice of wisdom for a young guy to go to if need be. Anyway just a thought.

Seems like we've had the most success with a larger percentage of in state nobodies that didn't get many stars and walk ons from surrounding states than with the 5-star recruits that couldn't find Nebraska on a map before getting here.

They've just seemed to have that extra something to prove or tradition to continue.

We still need the help from other areas with quality recruits, but there seems to be a difference between players whose ultimate goal is to get an education and "Play for Nebraska" as opposed to elite guys that want the fastest route to the NFL.

That's been our niche..That and Smash-mouth Football.

Maybe we'd do better with past players..at least in the trenches (position coaches) and a good motivator/organizer as HC.
