Post-Practice Presser - April 8

Nice press conference. He's going to let them play the game, kick off, punt the ball, extra points, field goals. Four 20 minute running clocks, but will stop when possession changes, including extra points. Right now he is going to allow the quarterbacks to be tackled, but don't hold it against him if he changes his mind later. Said he was hoping someone wasn't going to ask that question. He want's the team to be healthy for the season. Likes the depth in every group he mentioned, except probably linebackers and they have just two centers. Some younger guys will need to step up and the staff will need to develop the younger guys. Likes AJ and how he's progressed through 14 practices. He's talented. Riley said he asked AJ "when was the last time he was tackled". He's a RFR so it's been awhile since he's played actual football. Also likes Tommy and how he's been coming along too. Has shown the most confidence in practice and he should, he's got a lot of game experience. Your quarterback has to have absolute confidence out there, and he does, and it shows. A lot of respect for him by teammates. Riley also had high praise for Husker fans, their passion and support at not just football, but in all sports (that he has been to). Said it's like an event for Husker fans whenever there's a game going on. Not sure how many fans were at OSU's spring game, a couple thousand?, but not sure. Said his former QB Manion came to visit and they should ask him, he would know. Riley is also excited for recruits, wants them to enjoy their visit, see a hard working football team that enjoys playing football and enjoys their teammates.

I know, no wins or losses, but how refreshing it is to hear a coach that is proud to be NEBRASKA! Wants everyone to know he is the Nebraska Head Coach, that the kids come here to have fun. I hope he does a fantastic job.
