Post-Practice Presser - March 27

Gonna make an early guess that Bell is our best RB in 2018.
I would agree with you on that.  He fits this offense and he's more physically ready than some incoming freshmen.

I bet we see plenty of backs this year, but he likely will be the leader in carries & yards.

Yeah.

Bell does seem the betting favorite because he's on equal footing with the returning guys, some of which may be poor fits, and he's in early compared to the other new guys. I'm cautious in speculating, though, based on this system and staff.

By the end of last year, UCF had a definitive 3 headed monster in Killians, Anderson, and Milton. But early in the season it was completely different. Anderson had 15 carries in the conference title game, he had 14 combined carries through the first five games. Killians was not the feature back early on, he was a half dozen carry change of pace type guy. McGowan goes from the feature guy in the early season to being in the witness protection program. They played a lot more guys early and whittled it down to what worked best by the end.

I expect similar this season, though it's hard to guess how it shakes out. I think we see a low number of redshirts and a high number of opportunities. This staff isn't just lip service when it comes to playing the best guys, regardless of their age or experience.
