Predictions for the Near Future . . .

My thoughts and predictions (these are based on 100% speculation):

1. We'll beat South Carolina. Sorry, but SC has never struck fear in the heart of anybody.

2. Barney gone after signing day

3. I don't want JP to become DC. He'll just use it as a springboard to be a head coach in a few years. Get an older guy who will stick around.

4. No-way, no-how will Gill be brought on staff. Beck would hate it.

5. What happens if all of these great recruits we're shooting for don't pan out? Do we have backups? Hard to have backups when we have so few offers to begin with. Would hate to see us with a class of 10 recruits.

6. Mike Stoops won't be DC - - he hasn't heard from Bo yet. Seeing that they are great friends, it speaks volumes to the fact that he hasn't been called.

7. Glad to see the senior lineman go, not due to lack of heart, but due to the fact that we need young blood. It was easy for Barney to plug in mediocre lineman who were safe, rather than taking a risk on aggressive young guys. This option is no longer available, and we'll benefit from it.

8. I really like Cory Raymond. He was the best new hire.

9. I like the idea of Garrison being the O-Line coach.

10. I really wish would could petition the NCAA and find another year for Choi. I'm sure there were years where he played 3 snaps. Hard to imagine the NCAA not giving him an extra year (Yes, the NCAA is jerky but they do grant extra years at times). it would be great to have this beast for 2 more years.

Choi redshirted and didn't play his RS freshman year, unless he has an injury in the next 2 years he would never get another year of eligibility. And that's all I care to comment on.

Are you saying that he's a fifth year senior? Couldn't we go back and find a medical redshirt somewhere?

Ya, they don't just hand out extra years b/c they feel sorry for someone. If that was the case they would give one to Crick if he wanted to stay, but they won't b/c he played too many games this year to qualify. Choi won't ever, ever get another year unless he get injured. And to tell you the truth, he doesn't need one. He is a fine player, but if we need Choi, a guy who hardly has any football experience, in order to be good in the future we are in BIG trouble.

BTW, it's not like Choi is a senior this year!!!!!

I saw three predictions, and the outcome of the bowl game as the only one I'd classify as a bold one, and the rest is personal opinion. Did someone eat all the Fruity Pebbles and leave ya an empty box this morning?

In response to your #5 about the recruits. That's a question every program asks themselves...what if they don't pan out. And if they don't you have to adjust.

How do you know this? When Stoops was asked if Bo contacted him he said "no comment". My thought is he has contacted him, and though at first I thought there was no chance of an outside hire but now after the looks that Els may be head to FAU with Carl and Bo's comments on Sports Nightly, I have a bit of a feeling Bo could be making some sort of "wow" hire. All we talk about is how Bo is growing as a head coach right before our eyes and we may be seeing evidence of that in the near future. I wouldnt bet on it, but it is just a feeling. My main supportive question is if he was so sought after by Urban Meyer, then why hasnt the hire been made? But who knows. You know how Bo likes to play with the fan base's emotions.

 
What's the inside word on DC? Is there a Husker consensus yet?
