Again, this can happen - and has - without the help of cable TV, six ESPN networks, several dozeon Fox sports affiliates, talk radio, blanket newspaper coverage and the internet. Anyone remember what they were saying about the 1983 Nebraska team, with Mike Rozier, Turner Gill and Irving Fryar? Yeah, you know. Then came Miami, Howard Schnellenberger and Bernie Kosar. You think everyone would have learned. It only got worse.
I was quite young in '83 but I don't doubt they were hyped a bit.

One major difference (defense?) for 1983 Nebraska compared to 2005 USC. Nebraska was supposed to win but wasn't Rozier hurt in the Miami game? please correct if that's innacurate.

conversely, Bush, White, and Leinart were all perfectly healthy for USC.

come to think of it, had Bush been hurt, we'd probably never hear the end of who really "deserved" to win the Rose Bowl.

Rozier got hurt during the game and Jeff Smith replaced him. It didn't matter because the defense gave up 17 points right away to really put NU in a HOLE.

Not to mention that it was practially a home game for the Trojans...
I know that is how it works out, but it is total crap that FSU and USC basically had home games for their bowls. Maybe Nebraska can put a bid in to host a bowl in the future. They could call it the Bugeater Bowl and have it sponsored by Raid. Just kidding!!!

I wonder how many National Titles Nebraska would of had, if the games played down in the Orange bowl over the past 20 something years, were played in Lincoln, in Jan instead of Miami, in Jan?

if bush was hurt for the game i think that USC wins. White plays the whole game and Texas had no answer for him. plus he doesnt do the bonehead "lets try and lateral the ball while Im getting tackled" play.
