LINCOLN — Ciante Evans was a relative unknown when he stepped on Nebraska's campus last year. So much so, in fact, that his own relative on the team was unaware of their connection.
Last September, NU receiver Brandon Kinnie was at a movie when his mother texted him. That conversation led to the discovery that Evans was his cousin.
It's that competition that fuels Evans. He'll be only a sophomore this fall, but he's a front-runner to replace All-American Prince Amukamara at cornerback. Although Evans has more game experience than most of his peers, he doesn't think he can relax.
