This is good for #14 in the country.

I'm not sure we're quite as good as this stat looks but the game is all about points so it's a good spot to be in.

They've been lights out the past few games. No offense we have played this season, except for maybe Fresno State, is trash.

Eh ....

Northwestern is #94. Illinois is #118 (worse than Fresno).

Oregon is the only offense we've faced that is above #50.

The numbers don't tell the full story. For instance, teams that play predominantly against other teams with poor defenses will have better looking offenses when you only look at the numbers.

One thing I was curious to know was how Nebraska's scoring defense compared to the scoring offense of the teams we've faced.

Opponent | PPG (not including Nebraska) | Points scored against Nebraska | +/- against PPG

Fresno St | 22 | 10 | -12

Wyoming | 37.3 | 17 | -20.3

Oregon | 39.7 | 32 | -7.7

Northwestern | 28 | 13 | -15

Illinois | 24.7 | 16 | -8.7

Indiana | 24.5 | 22 | -2.5

Purdue | 27.5 | 14 | -13.5

Nebraska has held opposing offenses to an average of 11.4 points below their PPG average against their other opponents

That is significant

Analyzing how NU has done vs. the rest of their opponents schedule is a great way to look at the numbers. Good job.

Thanks. And I agree, especially for a few of those teams where Nebraska lowered their PPG by quite a bit

An average drop of over 11 points is awesome. Thats a 2 TD differential for the win. That speaks well going forward for sure.

which has what to do with this staff, this system, these players?

Count you know just as well as anybody that things like these can transcend sh#t like that. Think of us and Texas, or Texas and KSU, or us and Northwestern, etc. Sometimes there are programs that you are just snakebit by.

Not to mention that Tommy/Westerkamp/Cethan/others were all on the 2014 team that got curbstomped in Camp Randall. You don't just forget memories like that.

i dont think its as big of deal as some make it out to be. I played and didnt ever really feel it. Just my opinion. I see it the other way too. My main point is its new coaches. Mostky new players. New systems. Gave the game away last year. I dont see how it matters as much.
Now if Bo was still coach well yeah. Id be expecting a full fledged boat race and wouldnt believe otherwise till i saw it.

And there's something to be said for that, but there's also no irrationality in people basing future predictions on past results. Camp Randall hasn't been friendly to Nebraska.
