QB Isiah Williams??

Big Red Cop

Four-Star Recruit
I know that he is a "solid commit" to Illinois, but Lemming has stated that just recently that Williams has been talking with NC and Tennessee! He is a Chicago boy so could this be a possibility to look at?? 4*, and rated #3 pro-style QB!

Isiah Williams

NU can offer all it wants but this guy will end up at Illinois. He is pretty much guranteed to be a starter instead of having to possibly redshirt here.

True, he more than likely would be starting at Illinois! But when Tom Lemming was asked after Freeman decommitted from NU "who NU will now look at?" Lemming said Williams. But like you said, starting for sure versus redshirting!!

I think Illinois lost its last 9 games and it's been years since they were even average. Yet you guys are convinced immediate playing time is the be all end all for this recruit? I'd be more inclined to think closeness to home was the clincher and maybe he is rethinking the wisdom of going to a black hole football school.

Illinois was the Big 10 Champ in 2001 and played in the Sugar Bowl. Cosgrove has a track record for recruiting Chicago well, so maybe he can make some calls.

Whoopee, they've had two winning seasons out of the last 11 and have won the amazing total of 11 games in the last 4 years. They have had about one good year out of every decade for at least the past 30 years and 2001 was it for the current decade. Only the most die-hard Illini fan would try to debate my assertion that they are a black hole when it comes to football success.

Settle down Beavis, I wasn't debating you, but NU is 4 years removed from a BCS game as well, so make of that what you will. Football definitely takes a back seat to basketball at Illinois. Cosgrove and Callahan have the Chicago connection, so maybe they can pull something off.
