QB race

Starter
Everyone in the state knows Sam Keller will be our starter, so it bugs the !@#$ out of me that Callahan won't just go ahead and name Keller as the starter. Keller should join the others going to Texas for Big 12 Media Days and start building his presence, not only with the team, but with the media.

I'm sure Ganz is a good player and maybe he would be starting elsewhere, but I just don't believe that he's better than Keller. Too much time, energy, and preparation is wasted on this "competition".

what would you rather have, a capable back up that bust his a$$ and trys to earn the starting job, or a guy who is just going through the motions because he was told that he has no shot at starting, and that he will be second string.

I guess I give Ganz credit that he would work hard and know that he could be the man if Keller goes down and that this will better prepare him for the future.

Do you really believe Ganz thinks he'll be named the starter?

I disagree 100%

f#*k the media I say. Why does he have to build his presence with the media. If he's all we think he his, he'll show it on the field and the media will follow. We haven't even had fall practice yet and you want Callahan to name him as starter already? Hell, classes haven't even started yet! What if he breaks his arm during practice? What if he just can't even seem to get a hold of the system as well as Ganz has? I don't know about you but I haven't seen either of them really play a full set yet, so I'm not going to make judgement on who should be starting QB. Let the coach call it when he wants to.

I don't think even Callahan has seen them practice at their full potential yet.

Competition is healthy anyway. Both of them are working their a$$ off to impress Callahan. So like husker rob said, if one falls...we have just as capable of a backup to take over.

I know he's supposed to be this wonder child, but he hasn't even played in one game yet for Nebraska. Kid needs to earn his spot.

Ganz understands that most fans and media anticipate the starting job going to Keller, a 6-4, 230-pound senior transfer from Arizona State.

“That’s natural, just looking at what he did at Arizona State,” Ganz said. “That’s fine with me. Whatever. I really don’t care who the media wants to be the quarterback. It’s up to the team and up to the coaches. That’s what’s most important to me.”

Thank you for typing for me.

This is just more non-truths being spread by the coach, and it reflects upon him poorly. Keller was told he would be the starter if he came to NU, no if-ands-or buts about it.

really? where have you heard this? Do you know Callahan personally? Did you sit in on the transfer discussion between him and Keller?

Amazing.

I have a great idea! BC should just name all of his starters in January so all the players don't wear themselves out with meaningless competition.

Yes.

Next question.
So enlighten us on why BC would allow you to be privy to this information. I mean if he has you as a right hand man and allows you to be there when he makes promises to players, he should also allow you to know about what they are telling all the players they are recruiting. Hell you are a great source of information and the fact that you are willing to share your knowledge astounds me.

It's all about competition, competition makes people play better when their job's are on the line. Keller did not come here for a year to be 2nd string.
