QBs and defense

Every once in a while there is an article that makes you realize the author obviously sat down at his desk in the morning and had absolutely no clue what to write about so he just threw something out there to collect a pay check till a better idea comes up.

To me, this is one of those.

Mark Banker's defense has a history of being better against pocket passers than spread QBs, @swmckewonOWH writes: http://bit.ly/1f7znow

Really??? You don't say. A defense has a harder time with a spread QB that can also run than a pocket passer.

Gee....I've been wondering all along why QBs that can run have been so popular. I've always wondered why Bo's defenses were shredded by QBs that could run.

In fairness, this is the most uneventful time of the year for sports journalists. Pretty much every local guy is currently scrounging for some story idea that's somewhat relevant and draws eyeballs. It's easy to criticize when on the other side of the aisle, not under deadline pressure to fulfill the needs of a hungry fan base.

Looking through the article, it is kind of interesting, though. A lot of the QB's that gave OSU the most trouble were actually pocket passers - Hogan, Kessler, Moore and Luck to name a couple.

i think most of us have been thru enough pre seasons to know what to expect in print, this time of year............
