Question about Huskerfans and getting a new coach

If you guys get a new coach, would you like for him to return the Nebraska O back to a power running team?

I used to be a big fan of Nebraska because of their reputation and style of offense they ran, that is until Cally came to be head coach.

It would be nice to see Nebraska return to some of its roots. I miss the Oklahoma of old when it comes to our offense. Winning of course helps deal with the longing for the wishbone though :) .

Good luck in your return to the top.

I doubt if too many would want a total one dimensional offensive scheme again. Even with the biggest and best athletes, its still too predictable. If you lose a couple key people to injuries, etc., you lose the whole idea. A much stronger running attack however, would certainly find some support. A spread type offense or multiple option style offense is a more modern choice, and would probably find support given the right athletes.

Nebraska - Oklahoma - a college football tradition! Memorable games!

Nebraska needs to return to a running team with the ability to pass. No doubt.

I think that a power running game has to exist no matter who the coach is at NU. Current coaches talk all the time about establishing the run - "pound the rock" they say - but they have done little to teach the players how to get that done. We truly have some talented players, but if they are not coached they cannot execute.

Having been a fan for more than 30 years, I would absolutely love to see a return to any kind of power game. I miss terribly the days when EVERY team knew EXACTLY what the Cornhuskers were going to do, and yet they could do almost nothing to stop them. That was true power football - we're coming right at you, and your A game just ain't gonna cut it. Third and 2? Ok, line up and get it. The guys now are bigger, stronger, and faster than the old school Huskers, and the coaches haven't taught them how to get 3rd and 2 completed.

What I miss even more is the "family" that NU had since before I was even born. The traditions, the bonds, the loyalty, the support - family. When Stevie P chucked the family, he made NU just like everyone else - a business, with no loyalty to anyone. The family - the guys that grew up in the program, played there, coached there, spent the whole lives there - is gone.

It may well be that it'll take 30 years to fix what Stevie P destroyed - the family part of it anyway. Maybe we can have a successful program again next year - who knows. But it won't be family, and I seriously doubt we'll see any power football until SOMEONE from the old family is involved in the program somewhere.
