Rank EM! The Voice's of the Huskers

If you hire Lane Grindle to replace Greg I'll stop listening. He's a 2nd rate announcer that thinks he something he's not. Truly glad when he left.

Interesting topic since before there was the Husker radio network several radio stations covered the huskers on game day with their own announcers.

Bremser, Blackwell and Payne in the booth on KFAB in the 60's and 70's was the best there was.

Pavelka had a good run and probably saw the best football any announcer got to witness. His touchdown, touchdown, touchdown got a little old but hell he witnessed a lot of touchdowns!

Greg Sharpe is adequate but has witnessed some of the worst football over several years so hard to be excited.

Let's not talk about the Rose years. He would sign on and read some dribble he wrote the night before. Did his job as being a Pederson/Callahan apologist.

Not even sure why we had Warren Swain

Just a few comments to add to this thread:

Husker radio had a number of strong play-by-play announcers at the same time the great Lyle 'Man, Woman, & Child' Bremser was calling games.  Sometime in the mid-80s, the Athletic Department went with one radio station for its games.  Prior to that, Nebraska had a number of radio stations -- with their own announcing teams -- covering the games.

In addition to KFAB's coverage with Lyle Bremser, there was KLIN with Don Gill.  Famous broadcast, Ray Scott, covered the Huskers for a year back in 1983. d!(k Perry and Russ Baldwin also called Husker games.

I was a Bremser fan but all of these guys were better than Jim Rose and Warren Swain.

I was a big fan of Greg Sharpe and our new guy, Kyle Crooks sounds like he's going to be good too.
