Ranking Weight Training Facilities

From Bruce Feldman:
What's the best way to gauge top weight rooms around the country? I ended up consulting a group of NFL scouts, college administrators (who had toured many facilities as they tried to get ideas for their own upgrades) and some well-traveled coaches for today's top 10 list.

1. Texas Longhorns:

What JerryWorld is to head-turning stadiums, that's what the Al-Rashid Strength Complex has been to college weight rooms. The room, named for Saudi Arabia native and UT graduate Dr. Nasser I. Al-Rashid, is 20,000 square feet and also includes a 70-yard turf straight-away for timing and conditioning. More than half of the people I spoke to for this began their list with Texas.

It is indeed. I'm trimming the first post down to only what is available for free. I've seen ESPNBoston blogger Mike Reiss sometimes reveal token information from insider articles: for instance, if this were a Top 10 of NFL offenses, he might put in the blurb for the Patriots even if they aren't part of the free article. #1 though, I'm not sure if that's even OK, and #2, he's on the ESPN payroll, which we aren't.

I notice the link you posted is to someone who gave away the free article on a Scout board. I think I'll let that stand for now - I figure it's their responsibility to take it off.

Apologies. I found the information on the free scout board. I didn't realize it was ESPN Insider.

For what it's worth he ranked Nebraska's weight room #3. I guess you can still read it on the free link that zoogies left up.

yeah - honestly I'm not too sure what to do about that one. Doesn't really make sense to me to disallow links to the Scout Free board...and you couldn't have known it was paid content from that, so no apologies necessary :) Just didn't think it'd be OK to have all of that pasted here.

Its things like this that should help us rise back to the top. Our facilities are top notch and there should be no reason we cant bring in top athletes from all over the nation and restore the order.
