* “We always talk about distance-to-hang-time ratio for punters. So we want the ball punted a little higher than it is further, because if it’s a 45-yard punt, you want a 4.6 (second) hang time. If it’s a 50-yard punt, now it gets to where it’s hard to match up that hang time-to-distance ratio because now you’re looking at 5.1 or 5.2 to make everything match up. When you start getting the ball too far out in front of your coverage, that’s when guys like our guy (De’Mornay Pierson-El), you know, get you in trouble when you give them a chance with some space like that in front of the coverage.”

* “The other thing that has really come alive in the last four or five years is the rugby style of punting, where teams kick the ball basically on the ground. It’s very difficult as a return team because, No. 1, it starts out with the punter on the run. So the first thing you've got to do is stop the run. First, you've got 900 pounds running over here (blocking), and then you’ve got the punter with the ball, so you've got to find a way to get it on his foot as quick as you can, because the longer he holds it, the faster his coverage is getting down there.”
