So you agree we lack talent in those years, largely because of bad recruiting classes which is about 60% (unfortunately) of a coaches job description these days. Gotcha. And based on 1 potentially good class you've determined we are fixed in the talent department, despite last year's 25 beginning to drop like flies. And let's be honest, it wasn't the first 2 classes, it was the first 4 (with some JUCO exceptions which aren't helping out this season at all). The 10' class (this years seniors) will provide around 3 guys in the 2 deep this season that will have much of an impact. Maybe 4. The 11' class, maybe 4-5. The jury is still out on 12', but we've lost a number of them to attrition as well. So, is the 13' class full of talent, or just on the field more because the lack of talent left on the roster from the prior 4? Time will tell.Since we are beating a dead horse here, do I need to point out that the years you point out 2012/2013 were affected by bad recruiting classes and multiple injuries? Both. One can partially make up for a lack of the other (2009) - but when you lack both, you get 2012/2013 - and a continuation of the blowouts we experience season after season.Which is it? Coaching or talent?
We saw at the end of last year that the recruiting has greatly improved since Bo's first two classes (looking at the defensive side) but it is hard to overcome losing a 4 year starter at QB, multiple receivers, and half the OLine.
You can't blame the defense for the losses to MSU and Iowa. They can only stop a drive starting at their own 5 yard like so many times.
Can't blame the defense for 2 losses, so I can't blame coaching. Hmmm...
