Elgin, IL -- The U.S. Postal Service sent a letter to Santa Claus written by a 4-year-old twin in Illinois back to the youngster marked Return to Sender.Letters addressed to Santa Claus: North Pole were mailed by the twins ' grandmother last week but unlike previous years one letter was stuffed back in her mailbox on Monday stamped Return to Sender, Insufficient Address, Unable to Forward. The other letter presumably made it to the North Pole. Nancy Teafoe, the twins' grandmother, told the Courier News she was dismayed by a possible Grinch at the Post Office.
I remember the 'Miracle on 34 Street,' when Santa was saved by a bag of letters to Santa, she said. I think this is a little ironic.A Postal Service spokesman said the returned letter was a rarity and promised Santa's helpers would get the child's letter to St. Nick before Christmas.
