Reviewing the Pitt v NU game...

It's true that both Pitt and WF had some nice gains on the ground against us, but IMO that's why field position is so important in football. It's true that ZT hasn't lit up the scoreboard this year, but not turning the ball over 3+ times a game has helped a ton.

Teams may be able to break a couple of 8-15 yd runs against our defense, but they haven't been able to put together any kind of sustained drive against us to date. Any defense will give up a few of those per game, but good defenses are characterized by creating turnovers and limiting their opponents yardage - meaning that they are unable to go the length of the field.

If the offense can continue to set up the defense with decent field position I'm not concerned at all by a few successful rushing plays each drive.

 
I will sum it up this way...Some people on this site said they were not impressed with Ohio's win over Pitt because they had to win on an INT. We had to rely on a blocked field goal attempt. You see more INT's for TD's than you do blocked field goals. WE WEREN'T THAT IMPRESSIVE EITHER. Oh! yeah, I'm supposed to be patient, we have the right coach, but he doesn't have his players. I'm supposed to be patient, we are on the brink of an offensive explosion, according to the Great Coach C. By the way did you see his response when asked, "Let's talk about your offense," he said let's don't. Pitt came in struggling, this should have been a week where we made a statement, the problem is we did make a statement...we have a looooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!! way to go. Sure glad I'm a patient person.

To me, I dont think Pitt was as bad as everyone was saying... it took them two or three games in 2004 to get to the level that they were at towards the end of the season... they might have found some ways to win now and i wouldnt be surprised if they gave louisville and west virginia a good fight. they are an end of the season kind of team... hopefully how the huskers are 2 these days

 
Pitts is like Clemson. They start slow and finish strong. Pitts might not be a top25 team but they are none the less NOT a poor team.

I would have to disagree with that. Ohio may be the worst (certainly one of the worst) 1A teams in the country. You cant lose to a team like that and be "not that bad." Especially when you are now 0-3.
