RIP Brook...gotta be honest, the video with Sawyer Brown singing is a much better song/tribute than the one posted...thanks for the reminder of his passing.

I agree with the music choice being better on that other tribute video, but I like this one better for the highlight reel alone. I just mute the music when watching it. :lol:

When talking about past Huskers with good throwing mechanics, Brook has to be in the conversation. His throwing motion is a thing of beauty. I think he could've done some good things in the NFL had he lived to see it.

 
I was standing next to that trophy a couple of times this week. It's pretty sad that such a brilliant, beautiful guy lost his life so senselessly, so young. I think about him every time I drive by that field, and every time I walk past that statue.

It is incredibly sad, but just think of the incredible amounts of good that have come from his life, story and even his death.

I was a bit young to really remember you, Brook, but you have affected my life in a very good way.

 
I'll never forget Brook's performance against CU in '94. Coincidentally that game happened to be the 200th consecutive sellout and featured #2 vs #3. I remember some of the critics had NU losing this game because Frazier was injured and didn't think Berringer could save us. That game will forever go down as one of the greatest stories in Husker Football lore.

 
Not that I enjoyed TF getting hurt, but it was nice Brook had the chance to showcase his abilities and not just be remembered as Tommie's backup. Sure it was a great team, but that was a pressure cooker of a situation that he stepped into and he handled it exceptionally well. Any failure would have had people saying, "Tommie would have won that game." As the video proves, Brook was a fine QB. He saved us in '94.

I remember hearing news of the plane crash. I thought it couldn’t be true. Must be a mistake, or some cruel joke. Such a terribly sad tragedy. RIP Brook. RIP.

The thing is, he lost his life doing something he loved; flying. He had plans to become a commercial airline pilot if the NFL didn't work out. It was sad,, and it was a tragedy. However, at least he went out doing something he loved to do.

 
RIP Brook. I remember hearing about the tragedy, I believe it rained in Nebraska [at least where I was at] for a few days after that as if the Heavens we're crying down with all of Husker nation. I remember being in tears when I found out about the tragedy, as if it was a sick joke and I couldn't comprhend what had happened to such a nice young man. I never knew how much Brook impacted the Huskers that much until much later in life when I respected and loved what Berringer and Turman did in the 1994 season when Frazier [my favorite of the three] go down with injury. It was not until later when I realized how good Brook was and how high of potential he had at the NFL level, but still opted to play in an Option oriented offense because he loved what Nebraska brought to the table, and that if the NFL didn't work out, he had something else to fall back on.

I was only 7 when the Frazier/Berringer controversy happened before the 1995 Orange Bowl and I wanted Frazier to start because he was my favorite, I wanted to emulate him. But after watching the game over again, and reading these stories and how Brook had to command then team in 1994 with the injury to Frazier, as well as just being a great individual off the field as well [remember it's not ALWAYS about football] and that he took the backup role all with class act in what was best for the team, and how he influenced and touched so many lives, he was a blessing. It is sad to see him go and to hear about all of the great things he did. It was also nice to see him get a touchdown in his last game in the 1996 Fiesta Bowl on a QB sneak I believe it was.

It's nice that we dedicate what we can to what Brook did, with the statue, the remembrance, as well as the scholarships in his name and to be a classy individual on and off the football field. He will always be a Husker legend and embraces what Nebraska is all about.
