Here's the full list.

B1G teams and Husker opponents. Numbers are ranks from the last five years (2017 first) plus the average.

2. OHIO STATE - 2, 3, 9, 3, 2 - 3.8
T18. MICHIGAN - 4, 4, 51, 31, 5 -- 19.0
20. OREGON - 18, 28, 17, 23, 22 -- 21.6
21. PENN STATE - 12, 23, 15, 25, 42 -- 23.4
22. NEBRASKA - 20, 26, 28, 32, 17 -- 24.6
27. MICHIGAN STATE - 33, 18, 22, 22, 47 -- 28.4
37. MARYLAND - 17, 39, 55, 48, 33 -- 38.4
40. WISCONSIN - 35, 35, 44, 33, 54 -- 40.2
49. IOWA - 40, 42, 59, 56, 51

So using this as a talent metric, we would expect to be less talented than Ohio State, basically the same as Oregon and Penn State and more talented than the other nine teams on our schedule.

Though probably Penn State would have a talent edge since their highest rank and our lowest rank are the oldest class which is probably missing quite a few by now.

I'd consider that fairly accurate actually.

So we have better talent than every team but 3 on our schedule. Vegas has us favored in all but 3 games on our schedule. All the experts have us losing 5 games...hmmmm

IMHO, looking at that complete list, to get to that next level is a combination of the recruiting ranking, coaching and that one or two key guys who are game changers....(I know, Captain obvious) But is really looks like you need to have all 3 if we really want to get to that next level.

A few quick ones:

Clemson-Dabo and Watkins...

Stanford- Caffrey

Louisville-Jackson

UT-All the stars and no coaching....

I think we have the "rankings" now. We are getting the shelves stocked with that upper level "blue chip" recruits. Reading into the hype, I think we have some of the difference makers (at least on D and on paper), but do we have the coaching?

Does constantly falling between 20 and 30 in recruiting rankings really stock the shelves with upper level blue chip recruits? I think you are right about needing the combination of overall recruiting, coaching and a core group of players that take you to the next level.
