So I'm a little behind. Just watching the replay of the Fresno game that I've had recorded for awhile. I was watching our D-Guards, and they seem to split to the outside rather than plug up the middle. I watched three plays in a row where they glided on their own power (weren't being blocked) leaving this big split in the middle. Then Fresno sent someone to smother our linebacker, and poof... ten yards.
Why are the guards doing this? Isn't there job to just plug up the middle on a run play and to leave the outside to the ends and backs?
