Rutgers names Julie Hermann new athletic director
Rutgers’ bold new move into the Big Ten will come with bold new leadership – with a woman running the athletic department for the first time in school history.

Julie Hermann, most recently the No. 2 athletic administrator at Louisville, has been named the school’s new athletic director -- making her one of just three women at a BCS program to currently hold the athletic department’s top position (N.C. State’s Debbie Yow and California’s Sandy Barbour are the others), according to two people familiar with the process.
As a Husker, Hermann played under Terry Pettit and was a four-year letterman from 1981-1984. Hermann helped guide the Huskers to a 20-0 conference record and four conference championships, resulting in three NCAA tournament runs. The Huskers finished ranked in her final three seasons, with then-school record #7 final ranking in 1984. She was All-Big 8 all four years and was named FCA College Athlete of the Year.

Her professional resume is extensive, and she's garnering a lot of support from Rutgers fans - although there are some dissenters. At Scarlet Nation, some members are voicing their displeasure with a female hire, but they're being shouted down by the more level-headed fans. A couple of my favorite responses to the ignorant misogyny:

WOW.. some people here love penises so much that they sure get really upset when that find out someone doesn't have one

The reaction of some posters is amazing.. Ms. Hermann is highly qualified, infact probably the most qualified AD we've had. Fred was a golf coach turned AD.. Bob was a politician/government agency guy and Tim (while he bled scarlet like no others) was a TV guy.
Our AD is a mess. We've won minimal BE titles in all sports and barely make a dent on the national level for all but a few. Hopefully she can turn around the entire AD and keep raising funds like she did at UL. Welcome to the Banks Julie !

2 B1G schools with AD's that are Husker alum's. I would say that is a testament to how well we run our athletics department.

Hard to believe she wasn't vetted prior to her stint at Louisville.

Something a little "off" going on here............
