25 years ago today Hank Gathers collapsed and died of an undiagnosed heart condition. It was while he was playing BB for Loyola Marymount and was caught on tape by ESPN. His friend and teammate Bo Kimble shot free throws with his left hand for the rest of the season in honor of Hank.

RIP Hank Gathers.

It would have been interesting if Loyola could have given UNLV a run in the NCAA tourney with Gathers. LMU played UNLV kinda close for a half in the regional final, before UNLV's overall greatness took over.

Slight correction to the OP, Kimble only shot his first free throw of each game with his left hand to honor his fallen teammate. Just picking nits.
