LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - With the season opener exactly one week away, the University of Nebraska football team continued working on game situations during its Saturday practice inside Memorial Stadium.
The team practiced for two hours and 20 minutes in full pads, taking a dry run on the Cornhusker's game-day warm-ups and game situations.
Head coach Bill Callahan said Saturday's practice helped the team continue to focus on the opener again Maine on Sept. 3.
"We continue to refine everything we are doing on both sides of the ball, and today we put our players through several aspects of our game-day routine," Callahan said.
Sunday's practice, which will be open to university students, will also help the team prepare, he said.
"It will be our first chance to get under the lights this fall and we are looking forward to having our student body and the Marching Band at practice. Having the students here should get the campus energized for the start of football season, and I know the players are excited about practicing in front of their fellow students," he said.
After today's practice, the team will begin practicing by its game-week routine. The team will rest Monday and return to the field Tuesday.
