Saturday was a joke

As long as I can remember, our offense run like a well oiled machine, Saturday, it look like the wheels had disappeared and we were running on empty. Callahan needs to cut the play book down to 25-30 plays and perfect them, it is very obvious that we can NOT run more than that. Saturday was a disgrace.

No way! Saturday was a joke? Tha'ts news to me!.....

Seriously, in reality that game got out of hand. After watching the Callahan show last night I think we did some good things on offense in the first half. We just couldn't finish drives, then the turnovers started and, well, you know the rest.

Limiting the offense a bit might be a good idea. I don't know to what end this has been done already, if at all. However as a coach I think you can't simply can't revert to being one dimensional when you are trying to establish an new style of offense. It's counter productive. Like AR Husker Fan said a while ago, you can't make an omlette without breaking some eggs.

Any idea on how many plays they are working from now? I left my WCO playbook at home.... :)

I agree that would some simplify the play book some. To what extent I have no idea. But I remember reading an article a few years back that when TIm Couch was at Kentucky, he had 14 pass plays and 5 run plays that they ran. Granted, that those plays were tied into some 40 different formations but that is not that many and Couch seemed to do pretty well in their offense. I think that maybe we should do something like that, maybe have a few more plays than that but I think that we could be productive if all of our offensive players are on the same page.

The callahan show only shows good plays basically so it's going to look good. They don't show the crappy plays besides the picks. For every good play there was 5 bad. I agree the first couple drives our oline dominated but Bill didn't take advantage and keep running it at them.
