What an azzhole. Nothing like winning your THIRD STRAIGHT D2 title in wrestling and being informed that your program is being dropped(apparently on the same day.

That's the most chickenchit move I've ever seen in my life. What has their hockey team won? Not much. Screw their crappy hoops team-like they're going to make much $ getting an auto bid from a joke conference if they somehow win it (and then get throttled in the big leagues).

This is the stupidest thing I've seen in my life. Drop football and wrestling?????????? F you.

While I'm at it, John Christensen-I hope they run your dumb azz out of town along with Alberts. You both deserve to go.

I never thought I'd see the day where UNO had to drop it's football program. That's a shame. Their wrestling program too. Wow.

The University of Nebraska at Omaha appears bound for Division I in athletics, and the chance to compete at the highest level of college sports may well come at the expense of its tradition-rich football and wrestling programs.UNO Chancellor John Christensen and Athletic Director Trev Alberts said Saturday they are recommending to the NU Board of Regents that UNO join the Summit League, a 10-team conference that competes at the NCAA Division I level. League officials on Friday extended an official invitation, UNO's ticket to Division I.
So why would UNO athletic be *better* in Div I, but without football or wrestling? Wouldn't it be better not to make the jump to Div. I, and keep football/wrestling?

I think this is something that everyone will look back on it 10 years and say 'Why the hell did we do this?'. Of course, Trev will be long gone by that time.

Never been to a Mav game but this move seems to be just plain dumb. Of course they couldn't drop a women's program. That title 9 thing has been the a canser to many colleges and high school athletic programs ever since Congress past the law. (Who couldn't see that coming. The Federal Government prety much screws up every thing it touches.) The fact that almost every school in the cou8ntry has to have a girls/womens soccer team just in order to comply with the law is crazy. I'd bet there isn,t a soccer program anywhere that runs any where near to being in the black financially. I don't so much blame UNO administrators as much as I do the times we live in. One other thing, Nebraska is a one team state and fund raising must be a night mare for UNO.
