SEC Commish Mike Slive's Proposal

Saunders

Heisman Trophy Winner
He wants to pay athletes the full cost of scholarships. Also, one of his recommendations is increasing the minimum grade-point average of incoming freshmen from 2.0 to 2.5 in 16 core classes and the restoration of partial qualifiers. Student-athletes who meet the old criteria but fall short of the tougher standards would still be able to enroll on scholarship and practice, but could not compete as freshmen.

Sounds good to me. Although, it seems some SEC coaches oppose it. Probably because they recruit kids who can barely read.

Me too. It would probably effect everyone to some degree, BUT the SEC would feel it the most out of everyone. I somewhat applaud Slive for this, but as I heard somewhere else it could be just to take attention away from impending investigations in his conference. They've been getting a lot of heat and bad press.
