"First Impressions send Martinez, Bell soaring Up Heisman Watch" (SI.COM)

Looks like Taylor made the top 5. He played a helluva game against SMU....now, the question is, can he keep up this type of consistency against better competition? Check out the article below:

In order for Martinez to even have a shot, we'll have to be in the top five at season's end playing in a BCS bowl. I can live with that. I really see next year as our year to shine, but I'll gladly take it a year early.

isn't it obvious how this will play out? t-mart, burkhead, and bell will all get sent to new york, split the vote three ways allowing barkley to sneak in and steal the heisman with a slim plurality.

I remember in 2010, Taylor put up crazy passing numbers against Oklahoma State. Now while he may have "looked" in all areas of the passing game, I'm taking a "wait-and-see" approach towards him.

All signs point towards him improving overall and getting real close to, if not obtaining, his 70% completion goal. With the way our offensive line pushed around Southern Miss's defensive line, this could be a fun year for offense. Never thought I would say that.

Also, for Taylor to be in the Top 5, Nebraska needs to be in the Top 5 and playing in a BCS game, like someone else pointed out. If we aren't he would have to put up RGIII numbers, and despite the noticed improvements, I don't see that happening.

He played a near perfect game. Expecting that to happen every week isn't a reasonable expectation.

A little balance goes a long way.
