Sipple Q&A with Pelini

I figured someone would jump on that. You've never heard anyone else respond that way when asked about something?
all the time, but usually not when it is an 180 degree change from previous behavior.
So now you're downgrading Pelini for changing?
no, for his attitude. look, i know this is going to come off as petty, but it is not. the way pelini most demonstrates he is in over his head as a head coach is through his attitude. he is furious at everyone after a big win, his is pugnacious after embarrassing loses willing to go nuclear, he releases apologies without sincerity, then he tries to be the laid back guy that does not need to give a reason for doing something that is probably good for the program, even though he staunchly opposed it before. who is he and how does he lead?

maybe i am reading too much into this, but it just seems like the bo p.r. machine working in overdrive and hard to take it seriously. he is losing credibility, basically.

i think it is great that he is opening up practices, i am just confused why he did not before and is doing it now.
+1

The pr campaign (and there is one going on. The "light switch" didn't just click for Bo all of a sudden) is nice, but everything that's happening just has the feel of being too little, too late.

The best pr would of course be a conference championship. And not a lot of people seem to think that's in the cards.

winning cures all.

i honestly miss the "nebraska's back and we're here to stay" bo. but he is lacking confidence and seems to be captain of a ship without a rudder.

Snipped from Sipple today:

"The fact Pelini is opening practices to media scrutiny tells me he is very comfortable in his staff's ability to manage the situation. And yes, quarterback battles can become a "situation," for obvious reasons.

We'll see how this goes. When Nebraska scrimmages, reporters are going to want to keep statistics on the quarterbacks, and share the numbers with the free world.

Um, not so fast, my friends.

"You can be there to watch, not report," Pelini said.

That was the rule for a few Gator Bowl practice that were open to media. Reporters weren't allowed to report on anything they saw in real time. There apparently were no violations.

Pelini allowing media to watch every practice tells me he's comfortable with himself. Comfortable in his skin. And, get this: reasonably trusting of the media.

"Hopefully, we have a good enough rapport that they're going to have respect for what we're doing," he said. "I'm trying to help you guys maybe do your jobs better."

--Jesus Bo. First you say that you're basically going to go out of your way to ensure that every article you read from any paper about Nebraska is a propaganda piece that had your approval, then you insult the writer's talent who's doing it for you?

I honestly don't hate Bo, but I'm really starting to worry that he can't help himself with crap like this.

Does it strike anyone else as odd he is opening up practice the same time he has a major QB battle about to happen?

don't get me wrong I love that we may get some real insight into the team this spring. It would just seem that a controlling coach would want to media have no part in it, relating to the most high profile position.

see, bo, instead of just saying 'why not?', you could have said, 'because you will not be able to report on it, making it kind of meaningless.'

It's like he doesn't think about what he's saying....or something......

I'd like to see Sipple and Dirk write an article from the exact same interview with Bo. Would be interesting to see how they turned out.

Ah I see. So when it's something you want to agree with, he's being honest. When it's not, he's lying.

Just wanted to know where you're coming from.
Irony
just always assume he is lying.
I do.

Yep, he's gotten everything he wants, except that recruiting staff (ala Alabama) that he's been begging for and the admin is still dragging it's feet on. Again, words and actions, but lets not let that fact or common sense get in the way of Polo's witchhunt.

Actually, I would too. But I don't think Dirk would get the pass into the same room with Bo. Nor do I think Dirk would agree to let Bo edit what he wrote.

Not this again. Bo said he gets everything he needs, so clearly he doesn't need that Alabama staff. If he wanted it, he would get it. Bo don't need no stinking recruiting team. He don't need no stinking defensive coordinator, no offensive coordinator, no stinking f'ing fans, Bo don't need nobody!

Yep, yet he's supposed to perform at Bama's level.

#9wins.

Ask yourself this question,

Has Bo Pelini ever shown a talent of opening his mouth to speak on a topic he is passionate about, stopping, pondering what he's about to say, thinking better of it, then saying a nice, politically neutral comment that won't make waves?

Or is this all something I've thought up in my underground liar as the best way to start the groupthink that Pelini needs to be banished to Room 101?

they do after every game - and we see how those turn out

Even speaking hypotheticals, they're diametrically opposed. Sip would try to make Bo look like Mother Theresa while Dirk would go for the "worse than Hitler" angle. It's their schtick. Sipple won't ruffle feathers while Dirk has been just short of trolling at times.

I prefer McKewon (over all of them) followed up by Shatel.
