Skate For Change/Red Bull Tailgate Event Saturday

Anyone here follow much of what's going on with Skate For Change and The Bay skatepark here in Lincoln?

Mike Smith started this movement getting kids to skate around downtown handing out necessities to the homeless and giving back to the community and it's blown up into something truly remarkable. Now we're prepping for a huge grand opening of the new skatepark (also eventually going to have a coffee shop, music venue, art gallery and other junk I don't even know about) this Saturday.

The exciting part about this if you don't care about skateboarding or community service initiatives is that Red Bull is backing this whole thing. Bringing some pros down, bringing an RV and after the event (2005 Y Street at 10:30 if you're interested) taking the bus and going over to the res for some tailgating and music.

If you're friends with Mike, I'm curious if we know each other IRL.

Not so curious that I'm gonna ask you what your name is, haha. :)

I think this is going to be a unique benefit to at-risk youth. I wish the whole project huge success. Thanks for posting about it.

Where are they planning this new skate park?

Sorry, the grammar in my post didn't make that clear. The park is in a huge warehouse they bought at the above address - it has a huge Red Bull banner plastered on the side of it these days, can't miss it. It's open to go in and check out right now too with everything being built and cleaned prepping for Saturday.
